I have decided that if I ever figure out how to write a mobile app I am going to write a graduation app. Here is how this app will work: You simply tap in the graduating high school name, the upcoming university name, a theme and how many people are going to show up, and out pops everything I need to create a magical party. Where everything matches, people ooh and aah over my creative genius and the food makes your mouth water. Wouldn’t that be amazing? I wouldn’t have to think at all about details like finding the perfect ribbon to tie around napkins so that it looks like a diploma.
Or the flowers that will match her school colors coming and going. Or what about where to find three dozen cupcakes decorated perfectly without spending $200 on cupcakes alone?! Think of it as graduation in a bag that comes from an app. This app would locate where I’d shop, provide the shopping list, and give me an automatic budget. I think it is a brilliant idea and I am staking my claim on it right now.
If I had this app I think I could manage the company that will descend upon my house in exactly one week. If I had this app, I think I would have time to clean out the refrigerator and clean toilets before everyone arrives. But alas, I have no said app and I do have to do the thinking, planning, organizing, cleaning, and shopping. Furthermore, I have to do it all with a smile upon my face for my sweet daughter who is anxiously waiting the big day as “the most important day of her life so far!” Oh Dear! That is some pressure.
In the end, I know I will probably just call on all of the hands that will be visiting as well as good friends to pitch in to make it a lovely day. I know the ribbon around the napkin doesn’t matter, and as long as the cupcakes taste good I really don’t care what they look like. I don’t know how this day got here so quickly- my girl graduating from high school. Maybe I should write an app that reminds moms how precious time is and to not worry about silly little details like ribbons and flowers and instead just enjoy the present moments with our kids. I am staking my claim on that app too! I will let you know when they are ready for downloading! In the meantime- hug your kids. Oh, and come by for a cupcake!
